Brisbane artist charged over $2.6 million theft
Brisbane artist Richard Dunlop, 45, will face court this afternoon charged
over the theft of $2.6 million in artwork over a 13-year period.
A lengthy police investigation began last year after a complaint was made
about the possible theft of valuable art work.
A home on Brisbane's northside was raided and more than 1,400 items were
seized.
In the raid police found work by Australian contemporary artists William
Robinson, Joe Furlonger, Scott Whitaker, Robert Brownhall and Ken Whisson.
A Brisbane artist was arrested and charged today with more than 50 offences
including stealing, breaking and entering, fraud and forgery.
Police allege the offences happened over a 13 year period and relate to
artwork that was given to the Lismore Regional Art Gallery.
