Art works stolen from home in Sweden

Associated Press
STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Art thieves broke into a Swedish home and took off with
works by Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall and Georges Braque, officials said
Wednesday.

Two linoleum blocks by Picasso and a lithograph by Chagall were among the 10
art works stolen Tuesday morning from the home of an 89-year-old woman in
Malmo, southern Sweden, police and an insurance agency said.

Police spokeswoman Marie Keismar said the thieves broke in through the front
door of the house when the owner was away, removed the art works and took
off before security guards could respond to the alarm.

Bjorn Jacobson, a spokesman for insurance company Lansforsakringar, said the
art collection also included works by Braque and Paul Klee, and was valued
at a total of $260,000.
