The Emmet County Sheriff's Office is investigating a break-in that resulted
in the loss of approximately $20,000 in Native American art.
Emmet County sheriff Pete Wallin said deputies were called to the Indian
Hills Gallery Tuesday when the owners discovered that someone had broken
into the building overnight.
Wallin expressed his sympathy to the owners of the business, noting that one
of the items stolen in the burglary was a statue "that had considerable
meaning and emotional ties to the family."
The sheriff asks anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the
area of U.S. 31 and M-119 late Monday or early Tuesday to contact Det./Cpl.
J L Sumpter at 439-8901 or the Emmet County Sheriff's Office Crime Tip
Hotline at 439-8939.
