HeritageWatch Petition

HeritageWatch, a non-profit group working to preserve Southeast
Asia's cultural heritage, has launched a petition to encourage the
governments of Thailand and Singapore to sign the 1970 UNESCO
CONVENTION ON THE MEANS OF PROHIBITING AND PREVENTING THE ILLICIT
IMPORT, EXPORT AND TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP OF CULTURAL PROPERTY.

Cambodia's cultural heritage faces grave danger especially
prehistoric sites which are being looted at an unprecedented rate to
supply the demand from abroad. Most artefacts illegally excavated by
looters around Cambodia are transited through Singapore and Bangkok.
The reason for this is that these cities have very liberal laws
pertaining to the sale and transit of cultural heritage.

With your help HeritageWatch will petition the governments of
Singapore and Thailand to adopt stricter laws and limit the sale of
antiquities with a foreign provenance.

Please help HeritageWatch convince these governments that this is
necessary by signing on line at (http://www.heritagewatch.org/
petition.php).
