Famous Nolan work missing
May 17, 2006
A SYDNEY Nolan painting valued at $500,000 has been reported missing from a
Victorian storage facility by its owner, socialite Susan Renouf.
Police said they suspect the painting, Arthur Boyd at Fitzroy Falls, may
have been stolen.
Ms Renouf told police the painting had been with other possessions in a
storage facility on the Mornington Peninsula for the past 12 months.
Records last accounted for the painting when it was taken to Ms Renouf's
Toorak home in March, and subsequently returned to storage for future sale
at auction.
"The painting has not been sighted since then, and police are treating the
disappearance as suspicious," police spokeswoman Katherine Jess said.
