Bomb hoax at Hill Palace Museum
Wednesday November 29 2006 10:28 IST
TRIPUNITHURA: After receiving a threatening call that a bomb has been
planted at Hill Palace Museum on Tuesday afternoon, the police team headed
by Hill Palace Sub-Inspector P S Shiju searched the museum with the
assistance of dog and bomb squads. But the call turned out to be a hoax.
Soon after receiving the information from Documentation Officer of Hill
Palace P K Gopi, Thrikkakkara Assistant Commissioner Sethuraman reached the
spot.
''Around 1.25 pm. I got an anonymous call. The caller immediately
disconnected the phone. After 10 minutes, I got another call. This time the
person said Allahu Akbar and said that a powerful bomb will explode at the
Hill Palace in an hour. He then immediately disconnected the phone,'' P K
Gopi said.
Gopi informed the City Police Commissioner and as per his order Thrikkakkara
Assistant Commissioner reached the spot. ''First we evicted all the visitors
from the galleries and isolated the entire building complex,'' said
Sub-Inspector P S Shiju.
''We searched the galleries, nalukettu, art gallery and durbar for more than
two hours. But could not find any explosives,'' he said. After a thorough
search the police team allowed the public to enter the museum.
