More than a half-dozen antique guns have been stolen from a collector in
Chesterfield.
The guns aren't just expensive, they are rare collectors items. So rare that
they were photographed for a museum art book. Police want them off the
streets and the owner wants them back.
They are Civil War era handguns, more than 100-years-old, seven in all.
Investigators say they were stolen from a home on Harbour East Drive in
Chesterfield.
One of the weapons recently surfaced when a female took it to a local gun
shop to try to get it appraised. Chesterfield Police Department Det. Kevin
Bacon says, "They were in a glass display case. The thief, I'm sure
understood their value from an antique perspective."
Valued at more than $3,000. Among the seven guns, two four-barrel brass
framed .22 caliber pistols are each stamped with the name C. Sharp.
Police say they do not know if the weapons will still fire. Nonetheless they
say they are antiques and they do not belong on the streets.
Call CrimeSolvers at (804) 748-0660 if you can help police get these
collectors items back in the right hands.
