Donny George and SAFE invite you to join us in a global Candlelight
Vigil to mark the fourth anniversary of the 2003 looting of the Iraq
Museum.
Although media reports at the time were often confusing and even
controversial, these most important facts remain: more than 7,000
objects are still missing from the Museum, and archaeological sites
are still being looted. Four years ago, many of us were deeply
shocked and saddened. Now, as Donny George says, is the time to
gather together and remember, in solidarity.
Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOsOe-dfgpE for details about
the Vigil and watch a video invitation from Donny George.
It's simple to join the Vigil. Here's how:
--No matter where you are, you are invited to join the Vigil at any
time on April 10-12.
--Schedule your vigil and send us information about the date, time
and location at vigil at savingantiquities.org. We will post it on our
website so that others in your area may join you.
--Contact us for suggestions about planning a group vigil and use our
Vigil flyer to spread the word.
--Gather with your friends, family, colleagues, professors and
students, and pause for a moment of silence and light a candle.
--Document your vigil with digital photographs or a short video. Send
them to us; we will create a compilation Video Memorial from
gatherings around the world and present it to Dr. Amira Edan, the
current Director of the Iraq Museum, as well as international
decision makers.
