Painting, photo stolen from church
A third church in Southbury has been victimized by what may be a serial
painting snatcher. The United Church of Christ at 283 Main St. North is
missing a painting from its narthex and, from its library, a parishioner's
photograph and his framed last will and testament. All items are believed to
have been taken Sunday or Monday, police said. Police already are looking
for paintings stolen from the South Britain Congregational Church on South
Britain Road and Church of the Epiphany, diagonally across from the United
Church of Christ. Anyone with information about the thefts should call
Southbury police at (203) 264-5912. All calls will be kept confidential.
