Bronze Statue Stolen from Long Island Funeral Home

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (AP) -- It's been more than two months and the folks at the
Moloney Funeral Home on Long Island are still holding out hope that someone
will return a bronze statue that was stolen in June.

Peter Moloney says the statue called "God's Little Lambs'' was a sculpture
of a little girl bending down to look into the eyes of a lamb. The statue
weighed nearly 200 pounds and was worth about $15,000.

When it was taken on June 21, Moloney thought it might have been a high
school prank that usually happens at the end of the school year, and he
thought it would be returned. But now he's worried that "it's sitting in
someone's garage.''

Or worse yet, that it was brought to a scrap metal dealer and melted down
into a block of bronze.

He says the statue was visible from the road, and more than 50 people have
stopped in over the summer to ask where the statue was.

Moloney says the statue was there for 12 years -- part of a serene setting
on the funeral parlor grounds - near a gazebo and large trees.

He says he doesn't care who took the statue and he just wants it back, no
questions asked.
